Dental Insurance: A Benefit for Who?
Dear Friends,
Have you ever wondered why your yearly dental benefit maximum stopped increasing with inflation in 1970? At that time, the average yearly maximum was $1000. According to most sources, the average yearly maximum in 2012 hovers around $1300. So as costs have risen dramatically over the last four decades for dental offices to responsibly deliver dental services to you, insurance reimbursements have severely lagged behind. Not so funny is the fact that the premium your employer pays for group policies has risen exponentially. This inverse relationship is troubling, as is the related video that I am posting below of an investigation into the largest dental insurance company in the world, Delta Dental. If you are as disturbed as I am about what you are seeing, perhaps you should consider passing on the information to your Human Resource Director.
